Design Specialist

Description

This position is responsible for performing engineering design on a variety of engineering tasks with ongoing supervision. The Design Specialist receives technical guidance on new design topics that have not been experienced by the Design Specialist. The Design Specialist will work closely with other engineers/specialists and Senior engineers/specialists on typical engineering assignments tasks which are not familiar to the Design Specialist. The Design Specialist must have the ability to design residential Gas & Electrical (G&E) work, design basic G&E infrastructure with minimal guidance and has completed 1 or more external technical courses (IEEE, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Apply sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments with supervision and assistance from other engineers and managers
• Performs a variety of basic engineering tasks to assist in the production of plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documents with supervision by other engineers and supervisors
• Ability to work 25% in the field and 75% in the office.
• Ability to provide reliable and consistence customer service.
• Ability to manage multiple satisfied customer and deliver projects on time.
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Appropriate technical degree or related experience
• 3 to 5 years utility design or demonstrated job knowledge
• Minimum of at least one intern position of not less than 3 months performing basic engineering tasks preferred
• Experience in gas and/or electric distribution design (experience in both preferred)
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
