Founded in 2012, Portland Thorns FC have set the standard for fan support and on-field success in women’s soccer since its inaugural 2013 season. One of the world’s most supported women’s soccer clubs, Portland has led the league in attendance for eight seasons and set a new club playoff attendance record last year with 25,218 fans supporting Thorns FC in the 2023 semifinal match at Providence Park. Thorns FC have won the NWSL Championship a league-record three times (2013, 2017, 2022) and finished as runners-up in 2018. The club has made the postseason a league-high nine times and has won the NWSL Shield in 2016 and 2021.

The Role
As the Marketing Coordinator for Portland Thorns FC, you will play a key role in supporting the marketing and digital departments. This individual will be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining all email marketing campaigns, while supporting the marketing team across various channels, inclusive of Gameday Presentation, Fan Development and more. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for sports, particularly women's soccer, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences through all marketing touch points.

The Role
As the Marketing Coordinator for Portland Thorns FC, you will play a key role in supporting the marketing and digital departments. What You’ll Be Up To
- Manage email marketing campaigns, including content creation, quality control, list management, and performance tracking.
- Write and concept all marketing emails, collaborating with various constituents to deliver compelling content that resonates with fans of the club that supports our core business objectives.
- Coordinate and execute marketing and content campaigns on various channels promoting events, merchandise, and other initiatives to drive engagement and revenue.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, communications, and digital media, to align email content with broader organizational goals and initiatives.
- Work with external constituents who are featured in emails, including sponsors, partners, and affiliates, to ensure their needs and objectives are met.
- Monitor email performance and analytics, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement to enhance user engagement and conversion rates.
- Collaborate with the design team to produce high-quality marketing collateral for our marketing channels.
- Manage and execute technical systems related to email and digital channel marketing.
- Support the Director of Marketing with the execution of the club’s comprehensive marketing strategy to enhance brand awareness and fan engagement.
- Work with ticketing, partnership, community impact and other internal stakeholders on the game day entertainment, in-game promotion and on field presentations
- Help coordinate with the stadium venue and vendors for all game day / event logistics
- Help manage game day staff, including stage managers, DJ, PA, camera operators, anthem singers and in-game entertainers
- Work closely with internal teams, including Brand Marketing, Ticket Sales, Partnerships, and others, to develop and deploy sophisticated email journeys, automations, behavioral campaigns, transactional messages, and triggered campaigns.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field, with a proven track record of managing email marketing and executing digital marketing campaigns.
- Strong understanding of marketing strategy and channels with a focus on email and digital marketing tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and optimization techniques for email campaigns
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-level Email Service Providers (ESPs) and working within mobile marketing campaigns.
- Experience with marketing automation platforms and customer data platforms (CDPs).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Experience and interest in sports, sports culture, and fan engagement.
- Passion for the growth and development of women's soccer, with a vested interest in advancing the sport and engaging fans through digital channels.
- Competitive salary and performance-based incentives, Salary Range $60,000 - $68,000
