POLITICO is seeking a Manager of Research Operations to provide editorial and operations support and oversight for its regulatory intelligence and information services product, AgencyIQ. Since its founding in early 2020, AgencyIQ has quickly become the premier source of regulatory intelligence and analysis for professionals working in the life sciences and chemicals industries and is relied upon by many of the top companies, trade groups, law firms and advocacy groups.
The Research Operations Manager will be tasked with managing, editing and fact checking the work of a team of analysts specializing in the regulation of food products in the United States, with an emphasis on food contact substances, food labeling, food processing and production, food safety and compliance.
Reporting to the Director of Research Operations, the Research Operations Manager will help implement a robust editorial and operations framework with a team that is quickly adding staff.
This position would be partially remote, with an expectation of in-office work 12 days per month at POLITICO’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

The Research Operations Manager will be tasked with managing, editing and fact checking the work of a team of analysts specializing in the regulation of food products in the United States, with an emphasis on food contact substances, food labeling, food processing and production, food safety and compliance.
Reporting to the Director of Research Operations, the Research Operations Manager will help implement a robust editorial and operations framework with a team that is quickly adding staff.

What You'll Do
- Daily copy and substantive editing of written products from AgencyIQ research analysts, to include fact-checking and ensuring consistent style and tone across AgencyIQ products
- Posting content online, as well as updating existing evergreen content and adding news updates as needed
- Managing assignment calendars and trackers
- Supporting the preparation and sending of newsletter
- Developing and maintaining trackers and data visualizations for legislation, guidance documents, events, and key policy areas
- Assisting with preparation and execution of webinars
- Helping to maintain the AgencyIQ style guide
- Building an online repository of shared resources
- Occasional editing of life sciences or chemicals written deliverables to support staff workflow and content needs
- Occasional writing assignments, with opportunities to pursue “passion projects.”
What You'll Need
- This role will involve daily substantive and copy editing of highly technical and detailed analysis, working from a variety of source documents and media, including live and virtual meeting coverage. The position will support research, analysis and writing in a deadline-driven environment. Our goal is to provide our subscribers with timely, insightful analysis of new regulatory developments.
- The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently to help talented and knowledgeable writers produce clean, accurate, and engaging copy meant for a business or policy audience, using knowledge of (and passion for) regulation and regulatory policy.
- Have prior experience (3-5 years combined) of writing and editorial experience, with at least 2 years of editing experience in the trade press, or for a relevant consultancy or similar industry
- Have some familiarity with food regulation and the food industry, with a preference given to persons with knowledge of regulation of these industries
- Have high attention to detail, placing a high value on accuracy
- Be highly organized, and enjoy building out and maintaining systems to help keep our team organized
- Be comfortable working in AP style, or have experience working within another accepted style (e.g., Chicago, AMA, APA)
- Enjoy being part of a supportive, kind, and incredibly talented team
- Have experience in regulation of chemicals and/or life sciences products (biopharmaceuticals, medical devices)
- Have experience publishing online content and newsletters in a content management system
- Can work comfortably within a spreadsheet and presentation software
- Thrive on a mix of meeting daily deadlines and working on longer-term projects
- Have prior experience with the production of webinars, including helping to organize and prepare materials
- Have previous managerial or operations experience
- Find enjoyment in learning, reading and writing about challenging regulatory topics.
- Enjoy learning something new every day (especially about food, health and chemical policy and science)

- Are adept at helping writers break down complex ideas to create clear and engaging analysis
