Description
Who is Comprehensive Healthcare?
Comprehensive Healthcare provides innovative behavioral health and integrated healthcare services to clients of all ages. We take pride in our creative and collaborative work environment and in delivering clinically excellent, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented services.
What are we looking for in a Peer Support Counselor?
Peer Support Counselors use their own experiences with behavioral health issues, treatment, and recovery to encourage and support clients as they progress through their own recovery steps. Peer Support Counselors promote socialization and self-advocacy, assist with developing a natural support system, and work with clients to develop & maintain community living skills. As part of this process, Peer Support Counselors will participate in scheduled and routine activities to assist clients in developing the skills and confidence to exercise control over their own lives. This role is best suited to an individual who is ready to use their own experiences to relate to others and is willing to travel regularly. This position is part of our MST (multisystemic therapy) program in Yakima. The MST program is an intensive, family-focused, community-based treatment program to address problematic behaviors in teens. Working intensely with families in their homes and out in the community, the MST program empowers caregivers with the skills & support systems to independently address the challenges the youth is experiencing with family, peers, school, and community that resulted in problematic and criminal behaviors, including substance use. This Peer Support Counselor position will have a varying work schedule of mostly Monday-Friday day shift, but may occasionally require work outside of standard business hours to meet the needs of client families served. Although based in our Yakima outpatient center, the Peer Support Counselor the MST program covers Yakima, Kittitas, Benton, and Franklin Counties, so significant travel throughout the workweek will be required.
