About the Opportunity

Easter Seals Goodwill ND (ESGWND) is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization into its next chapter of impact and growth. This is a unique opportunity for a values-centered leader who excels at blending strategy, collaboration, and service. The CEO will foster a client-focused, high-performing culture grounded in ethical leadership, while working closely with the Board to shape and implement a forward-looking strategic vision. This role also includes building a strong leadership team, ensuring financial and operational excellence, and maintaining regulatory compliance. As the organization’s main ambassador, the CEO will build trust and strengthen relationships with clients, families, donors, government agencies, and community partners.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

The Key Accountabilities for the position include but are not limited to the following:


Leadership Culture and Stewardship

Foster a client-focused, mission-driven culture rooted in ethics, collaboration, and high performance. Show and support organizational values through your actions, communication, and talent decisions.


Strategic Direction and Organizational Growth

Lead the creation and implementation of the strategy, in collaboration with the board, focusing on opportunities that strengthen impact, adaptability, and long-term sustainability.


Board Governance and Partnership

Build a strong, collaborative relationship with the Board of Trustees by sharing timely, strategic information and supporting effective governance policies and practices.


Talent and Team Development

Build and maintain a high-performing leadership team and talent pipeline. Champion a culture of accountability, professional growth, equity, and alignment with organizational goals.


Operational and Financial Oversight

Ensure the organization operates with financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness in all areas of service delivery.


External Relations and Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the main representative for ESGWND, building partnerships and trust with clients, families, donors, agencies, and community leaders.

Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc. (ESGWND) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and those facing employment challenges across North Dakota. Through affiliations with national organizations Easter Seals and Goodwill Industries, ESGWND offers a range of services including skill development, personal care, meal preparation, and financial management, all tailored to the unique needs of the individuals served. The organization operates regional offices in Mandan, Minot, Dickinson, Jamestown, Grand Forks, and Fargo, ensuring accessible support throughout the state.


In addition to its program services, ESGWND sustains its mission through retail operations. The sale of donated goods at Goodwill retail locations in Bismarck, Minot, Jamestown, Grand Forks, and Fargo generates funding that directly supports the organization's programs. An e-commerce platform extends this reach, allowing online shopping that complements the retail experience.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

· Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field and experience required, preference given to Master’s degree.

· A minimum of 10+ years track record of executive leadership roles within a service organization in retail, e-commerce, developmental disability, healthcare, or education environment.

· Ability to oversee a budget; fiscal management experience is required

· Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders and build collaboration with communities across ND.

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstration of a high level of emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and desire to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The expected salary range is $165,000-$200,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Candidates with exceptional experience whose compensation expectations fall outside of this range are encouraged to apply.
