Duration: Full Time, Contract-to-hire

Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

Pay Rate: $30–$40/hr. (Based on Experience)

Position Overview:

Qualdoc is looking for a detail-oriented Maritime Manufacturing Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating project specifications, analyzing costs, and preparing competitive estimates for federal maritime manufacturing projects. Your expertise in financial forecasting and risk assessment will play a key role in securing successful bids and ensuring operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Requests for Quotes (RFQs), drawings, and technical specifications to determine project requirements
  • Work with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to develop precise cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and fabrication
  • Identify potential risks and integrate risk mitigation strategies into cost projections
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting maritime manufacturing and federal contracts
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to senior management
  • Participate in post-award project reviews to refine estimating processes
  • Communicate with customers as needed to clarify project details and expectations


Job Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of experience in heavy industrial maritime manufacturing or shipbuilding (machining focus required)
  • Familiarity with commercial and military maritime construction projects
  • Strong understanding of federal contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience estimating material, labor, and equipment costs for RFQs
  • Knowledge of market trends in labor and material pricing for the maritime sector
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with engineering, finance, procurement, and HR teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience estimating large military components in a machine shop environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Must be able to pass a background check for work on U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) contracts
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to move materials using an overhead crane
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing ladders, and using stairs
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and depth perception
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Moderate to high noise levels in the shop environment
