Summary

SRP's Desert Basin Generating Station is hiring an Engineering Intern, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. The Desert Basin Generating Station is a combined cycle gas generating station responsible for the reliable and efficient generation of electricity. This internship provides "on-the-job" experience to develop skills and provide exposure to Power Generation, specifically for a combined cycle gas generating station.

Internship Focus Areas

  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting and optimizing plant performance.
  • Project Management: Support project planning, execution, and management for maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Maintenance and Reliability: Assist in maintaining and improving the reliability of plant equipment.
  • Power Plant Operations: Gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a combined cycle gas generating station.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the engineering team to ensure operational reliability.
  • Support the design and implementation of plant modifications and upgrades.
  • Conduct performance analysis and efficiency improvements for plant operations.
  • Participate in the development of maintenance strategies and procedures.
  • Assist in project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and assist with root cause investigations for failures.
  • Research manufacturer drawings, manuals, and technical documents to support maintenance activities.
  • Assist with safety and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Conduct special studies and technical evaluations as assigned

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Mechanical Engineering Major
  • College-level coursework (200+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
  • We are seeking Students in their Junior or Senior year.
  • Pay rate is $19.10 per hour for an undergraduate intern and $20.80 per hour for a graduate intern.

Location

This internship is 100% onsite at the Desert Basin Generating Station, located in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
