A fast-growing, vertically integrated agribusiness is seeking a skilled HR & Safety Manager to lead human resources and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) functions across its U.S. operations. This strategic, hands-on role is critical to supporting business growth, workforce development, and regulatory compliance in a values-driven organization.
About the Role:
Based in Woodland, CA, and reporting to the CEO, this role leads all aspects of the employee lifecycle and safety program management. You will work closely with leadership to shape the people strategy, implement best-in-class HR practices, and ensure a safe and engaging work environment across office and field locations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Employee Lifecycle: Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes; coach hiring managers; and coordinate staffing logistics and orientation programs.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Serve as a trusted HR advisor, manage staff communications, coordinate feedback mechanisms and engagement initiatives, and resolve employee concerns with discretion and care.
- Performance Management & Development: Lead implementation of performance reviews, goal-setting processes, and employee development programs; administer ADP Performance Dashboard and online learning systems.
- Payroll & Benefits: Partner on payroll and benefits administration via ADP; provide employee support on leaves, benefits, and timekeeping; stay current on labor laws and FLSA requirements.
- HR Compliance & Strategy: Maintain HR documentation and compliance; co-develop policies, organizational design, and workforce planning; oversee job descriptions and government reporting requirements.
- EHS Leadership: Develop and execute EHS strategies; lead training, incident investigations, and audit programs; collaborate with Australian EHS team; ensure site-wide regulatory compliance and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety ownership.
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
- Significant HR leadership experience, ideally in agriculture, manufacturing, or similar settings
- Working knowledge of California and federal labor laws, EHS regulations, and leave management programs
- Proficiency in ADP and Microsoft Office; strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- A hands-on, proactive, and approachable leadership style
