Job Summary
Barrett Paving Materials is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Traffic Control Laborer to join our team in the Mid West Central region. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic around construction sites, paving operations, and maintenance activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barricades, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of traffic control plans to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust controls as necessary to respond to changing conditions.
- Communicate effectively with team members, motorists, and pedestrians to provide directions and information regarding traffic patterns.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspection of traffic control devices to ensure they are in good working order.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and attending safety training sessions.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in traffic control or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to understand and follow traffic control plans and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Certification in traffic control (if required by local regulations) is preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
- Capable of performing tasks that require physical endurance, such as walking, standing, and bending.
