Job Title: General Manager - Manufacturing Facility

Location: Conroe, Texas

Reports To: CEO/COO/Owner

Job Summary

The General Manager (GM) will oversee the daily operations of a self-established manufacturing facility, ensuring operational excellence, productivity, and profitability. The GM will be responsible for leading a diverse team, implementing efficient processes, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role demands a dynamic leader with a strong background in manufacturing operations, strategic planning, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Direct and manage all aspects of the manufacturing facility, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production targets, quality standards, and cost efficiency goals.
  • Oversee the development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to optimize production processes and reduce waste.

Financial Management

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the facility's budget; analyze financial performance and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Optimize resource allocation, control operating costs, and maximize profitability.
  • Prepare regular reports on operational performance, financial results, and key metrics for executive leadership.

Team Management and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional team including production managers, supervisors, and administrative staff.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
  • Establish clear performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and implement appropriate action plans.

Quality and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop and implement safety programs and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Strategic Planning and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute long-term strategic plans. Identify opportunities for technological upgrades and process enhancements to improve production efficiency.
  • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to adjust operational strategies and drive innovation.

Supply Chain and Inventory Management

  • Oversee procurement, inventory control, and vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to streamline operations and reduce supply chain risks.
  • Implement effective inventory management practices to reduce waste and optimize stock levels.

Customer Relations and Business Development

  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at expanding market presence.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven track record in operational management, financial oversight, process improvement, and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production management software.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, develop strategic solutions, and drive results.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with self-set up or start-up manufacturing facilities.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling operations and managing growth in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, and machinery.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with vendors, clients, or other facilities.
