Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement all jobsite safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and EM385-1-1 regulations
- Conduct daily inspections of construction sites, tools, and equipment
- Develop and enforce Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA/JHA) for all tasks
- Lead daily tailgate meetings and site-specific safety training
- Ensure all workers are properly equipped with PPE
- Promote a culture of safety and prevent incidents through hands-on leadership
- Maintain accurate safety records and submit timely reports
- Investigate any health and safety incidents or complaints
- Support and enforce company-wide safety initiatives
- Coordinate with field teams and project leadership to resolve issues and ensure compliance
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a safety officer in the construction industry
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EM385-1-1 safety regulations
- Valid OSHA 30HR, First Aid/CPR/AED certifications required
- Must pass background check for access to federal installations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage high-stress environments and prioritize competing demands
- Tech savvy - comfortable using computers, phones, cameras, and email
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license
- Must be able to read and write fluently in English
This is a mobile, field-based position requiring work at active construction sites. Candidates must be physically able to:
- Stand or walk for extended periods, including navigating uneven terrain and stairs
- Occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds
- Use hands and fingers to operate tools, digital devices, and safety equipment
- Perform tasks involving climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Work in a variety of outdoor conditions, including varying weather
- Travel between job sites and conduct full-site inspections as required
