POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for properly utilizing all maintenance assets to ensure that all manufactured products for Stow meet or exceed expected levels of quality, rates of output, and standard unit costs. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the building and grounds are kept in good repair, providing a safe, clean, structurally sound working environment always.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Championing a safety culture, ensuring a safe work environment, and cultivate safe behaviors.
- Developing personal growth opportunities and performance evaluations.
- Manage plant maintenance personnel and lead a collaborative team with other departments.
- Collaborate with production to monitor operation and productivity of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement to optimize uptime, cycle time, and net yield.
- Make recommendations to improve process and plant operations and solve maintenance-related problems.
- Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
- Plan maintenance activities in a way that will consistently optimize machine uptime, cycle time, and yield on the production floor.
- Ensure that all maintenance floor personnel are trained in the most current version of the operating procedures.
- Establish and maintain a computerized management system (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activity.
- Develop and control an operational cost control program for the maintenance departments.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas as well as facility maintenance via weekly maintenance schedules.
- Track planned and unplanned maintenance work and costs.
- Ensure maintenance personnel adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure all city, county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the maintenance department are always met and adhered to.
- Embrace an environment that is conducive to continuous improvement.
- Problem solving with cross functional teams and developing new methods to optimize existing processes and systems.
- Coordinates troubleshooting and solutions for equipment repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and or Industrial Engineering or related field preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered.
- Five years of maintenance-related experience in manufacturing/warehousing environment.
- Three years of supervisory experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
- Possession and use of appropriate interpersonal skills to create positive and collaborative interaction among superiors, peers, departments and shifts.
- Ability to communicate effectively and convey needed information to other managers concerning status of plant equipment, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct subordinate discipline in a fair and consistent manner when required.
- Strong technical knowledge and positive leadership skills with demonstrated ability to convey such to manufacturing/maintenance floor staff resulting in a positive work environment.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Proven knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic equipment operations and troubleshooting.
- Skilled in various types of welding.
- Knowledge of electrical processes equipment up to 480V.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
- Must be able to accomplish and withstand frequent bending.
- Must be able to accomplish and withstand frequent climbing.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
