General Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving and supporting sustainability initiatives across the organization. You will work closely with various departments to develop, implement, and monitor sustainability strategies and ensure the company’s operations, products, and services align with environmental, social, and economic sustainability goals. This opportunity will allow you to expand on creativity, persistence, and problem-solving skills to enhance your education in sustainability stewardship.

This position may require travel to operational sites for coordination of sustainability initiatives and on-going collaboration with site leaders and operational subject matter experts to ensure prioritization of site-specific sustainability efforts.

Salary Range: $46,329-$84,086 based on experience and location.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Sustainability Program Development & Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability initiatives in alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
    • Assist in setting measurable sustainability targets and work cross-functionally to ensure achievement of these goals.
    • Support the development of sustainability policies and action plans to reduce environmental impacts, improve resource efficiency, and enhance social responsibility.
    • Coordinate with the third-party administrator in the creation and management of the company's Environmental Product Declarations.
  • Sustainability Assessment & Reporting:
    • Conduct sustainability assessments across business operations, including energy, water, waste management, and carbon emissions.
    • Prepare and present sustainability reports and performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with sustainability goals.
  • Education, Communication & Training:
    • Educate and engage team members, partners, clients and stakeholders on sustainability best practices and environmental responsibility.
    • Coordinate training programs to raise awareness about sustainability and promote eco-friendly behavior throughout the organization.
    • Represent the company at sustainability-related events, conferences, and partnerships to stay connected with industry leaders and share best practices.
  • Sustainability Innovation & Strategy:
    • Stay current with sustainability trends, technologies, and innovations, recommending new solutions and tools for improving sustainability efforts.
    • Identify opportunities to integrate sustainability into product design, manufacturing, and supply chain management to enhance circular economy practices.
Education, Skills, And Abilities Required

  • Graduate from an accredited institution with an emphasis in engineering, materials science, and/or sustainability.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements/ Ada Essential Functions

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
  • Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
  • Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Intermittent field / jobsite visits will require safety precautions, which may coincide with exposure to harsh weather.
