Reporting the Quality Assurance Manager, the Supplier Quality Specialist is responsible for quality assurance functions including corporate policy governance, supplier quality program, facility and corporate certificate programs and quality program execution. This position works closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory affairs, supply chain, strategic procurement and operations. Establish and maintain raw material, in-process and finished goods quality standards. Comply with Nordic Naturals quality standards as well as State, Federal, and international regulations. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Assurance Management.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Lead a team performing material hazard analysis for any new and existing materials coming into the manufacturing plant.
• Assist with establishment and maintenance of quality standards for raw materials, components, in-process and manufactured goods, including performance metrics and quality feedback for suppliers.
• Work with SAP and ERP systems to add new materials, inspection plans, allergen requirements and other such specifications, inspection criteria, and quality standards.
• Manage items and suppliers including creating new items and suppliers, deactivating inactive items and suppliers.
• Assist with the development of new products and/or reformulations of existing product as it relates to specifications and assay standards.
• Manage, curate, review and approve supplier submitted documentation against internal specifications for raw materials, packaging, in-process and finished product.
• Working knowledge of food safety, food and supplements manufacturing supply chain, procurement and production process.
• Utilize risk-based approach to perform audits of key suppliers on a regular basis. Able to travel for up to 10% time is required.
• Working closely with product development, manufacturing and procurement to establish supplier quality agreements and maintain supplier qualification files and maintain connections with suppliers for quality complaints and corrective actions.
•Assist with corporate metrics around supplier quality, failures and on time rates and provide QA representation on the Material Review Board.
• Assist with internal audits to existing company Quality Systems procedures and ensure all findings are addressed appropriately per cGMP regulations and for continued improvement to the company Quality System.
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) at all times.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of GMPs. Strong working knowledge of cGMPs (US, Canada, and International). Assist in FDA, CDPH, and third-party audits to meet 21 CFR Part 111. Ensure all findings are addressed appropriately to ensure continued certification and compliance to Federal and State regulations.Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills
● Must be proficient with MS Office and have advanced Excel skills.
● Familiarity with Smartsheet and Monday.com project management tools
● Familiarity with SAP HANA is preferred.
Other Requirements
● This position requires mandatory attendance at our Vista, CA manufacturing site.
● BA/BS Biology, Chemistry or equivalent combination of education preferred.
● Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Systems or Quality Management or equivalent experience, with proven record of effective communication skills, program development and positive manufacturing results.
● 3-5 years of experience in related field within the food or dietary supplement industry.
● Certificates in HACCP , PQCI or auditing a plus.
● Bilingual with a working understanding of Spanish language and documentation preferred.
● Work located at Manufacturing site located in Vista, California with attendance mandatory on a daily basis.
Pay, Benefits & Perks:
The estimated hourly pay for this role is $35.00 to $38.00 . This pay is an estimate and the exact compensation may vary depending on an applicant's location, skills, prior experience, professional qualifications, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may also include incentive compensation (i.e. bonus or commission) if applicable.
