Position Summary

Supports the Human Resource Department's mission of providing professional, comprehensive, accurate, and timely human resource services while serving as a strategic partner supporting the mission of the College of Medicine Rockford.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Processes employment transactions for assigned departments using various University systems for extra help, student, graduate, resident, and clinic civil service positions. Posts job ads on external advertising sites as needed and invites applicants to apply using job board tools.
  • Assist with preparation and interviews for civil service positions as assigned.
  • Assists with onboarding tasks for new hires including I-9 completion in assigned employment groups.
  • Review and process FMLA, disability, and workers compensation paperwork. Updates university systems with employee leave information as appropriate.
  • Reconcile department T-card and P-card purchases using the appropriate university systems.
  • Process volunteer requests ensuring required background checks and clearances are completed.
  • Process separation transactions and related processes for all employment groups as assigned.
  • Schedules and coordinates new employee orientation sessions.
  • Maintain various department tracking tools including weekly change report and annual evaluation compliance.
  • Submit requests for University identification cards for the Rockford campus.
  • Completes employee verification requests from outside agencies according to university policy and rules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
    • course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    • progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports.
The budgeted salary range for the position is $47,990 - $53,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
