Job Summary: The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) will oversee all HR functions, ensuring alignment with the company’s business objectives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive talent acquisition, employee engagement, compliance, training, and overall organizational development within a dynamic construction environment. The VP of HR will play a critical role in shaping the company’s culture, fostering a safe and productive work environment, and developing HR strategies to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, retention, and workforce planning to support company growth.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Lead employee relations efforts, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Implement and manage compensation, benefits, and performance management programs.
  • Develop training and development programs to enhance workforce capabilities and leadership growth.
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to promote a fair and inclusive workplace.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with business operations and long-term strategy.
  • Oversee HR policies, procedures, and HRIS systems to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to continuously improve HR functions within the construction sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in the construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, OSHA regulations, and construction workforce compliance.
  • Experience in managing large, dispersed teams, including union and non-union workforces.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies that drive business success.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
