The Team
One App is the enterprise web framework that powers American Express’s digital experiences. It’s a fresh take on web application development which consists of a Node.js server that serves up a single page app built using React components and makes use of Holocron, our library for building and composing microfrontends) to allow for code splitting via independently developed, tested, and deployed Holocron Modules (microfrontends).
Our goal is to provide a web application framework for building fast, scalable, secure, and modular experiences. Leaving the tooling to us so our users can focus on what matters - delivering performant, maintainable digital experiences. We are constantly working to evolve the framework through user research, testing, and ideation.
The Role
As the Product Manager for One App, you bring a strong passion for Technology and front-end development, to create a product that meets the evolving needs across the enterprise. Managing the One App will require you to develop a deep understanding of our user’s tooling, workflow, and communication needs. Based on these, you will identify and execute against opportunities that not only improve the quality of the framework, but also ensure it is adopted, and the needs of our consumers are met in the most effective way possible.
In addition to managing the product, you will also be an advocate within the community, partnering closely with teams adopting our framework to better understand their challenges and needs. This may take the form of troubleshooting issues or giving presentations at town halls on releases and related product updates.
Responsibilities
- Execute against the vision for One App and articulate how it continues to drive value.
- Drive adoption across new user groups by articulating the value of the product
- Define key metrics against our OKRs and show progress against these
- Write and review features and users stories, to be worked on by the engineers using the agile methodology
- Participate in Scrum rituals and drive release prioritization
- Identify and remove blockers for the team
- Document and communicate releases across the enterprise
- Identify and collect key metrics to drive decision making for product prioritization
- Research and share emerging technology trends in the fields of web technologies.
- Generate reports from JIRA on progress, delivery, and task breakdown of scrum team
- Help maintain an accurate roadmap based on day-to-day prioritization
- Develop a deep understanding of how product development in the enterprise works and how front-end frameworks are used in building applications.
- Work closely and coordinate with various Product Owners, Engineers, Designers, Subject Matter Experts, and Analytics team to ensure the library and guidelines are meeting the needs for American Express product and marketing teams
- Display thought leadership, drive process optimization, and inform best practice perspectives on systems design
- Support reporting on ROI to leadership
- Prior background in product management, Product Owner roles in the technology industry
- Experience working with Agile methodologies (scrum), certification a plus
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Tech, Design, Analytics, Product, Marketing, etc.)
- Experience with complex technology and product development with a basic understanding of web technology and front-end development frameworks (e.g. React, Node, etc.)
- In-depth experience with JIRA for workflow management
- Experience working in both an enterprise and start-up environment preferred
- Experience developing dashboards and reports to provide visibility into business value achieved / operational progress
- Relentless desire to continually iterate and improve
- Passion and advocacy for a customer-first approach
- Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate challenges
- Ability to be self-sufficient, prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under pressure
- Comfortable leveraging Slack, JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, and GitHub
- Proactive team player with a passion to consistently deliver a high-quality product and exceed customers’ expectations
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, written
- Excellent relationship building, presentation, and collaboration skills
- Experience with front-end development frameworks
- Design background
