What You'll Do

The MDS Assistant at Greenwood Health and Living plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for residents in long-term care. This position is essential for maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, which directly impacts the quality of care provided to our residents. The MDS Assistant will collaborate closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to gather necessary data and ensure that all documentation is thorough and precise. By effectively managing the MDS process, the assistant contributes to the overall operational efficiency of the facility and enhances the quality of life for residents. Ultimately, this role supports the mission of Greenwood Health and Living to provide exceptional care and services to our community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the completion of MDS assessments and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to gather relevant information and documentation for MDS submissions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and contribute to the development of individualized care plans based on MDS data.
  • Provide support during audits and reviews related to MDS assessments and documentation.

Our ideal candidate

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in healthcare administration or long-term care settings.
  • Familiarity with MDS 3.0 and related documentation processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field.
  • Experience with Matrix One software.
  • Certification in MDS coordination or related training.

Skills

The required skills, such as general computer skills, are essential for navigating electronic health records and MDS software efficiently. Health care administration knowledge is applied daily to ensure compliance with regulations and to support the overall management of resident care. Proficiency in MDS 3.0 is critical for accurately completing assessments that inform care plans and funding. Familiarity with Matrix One enhances the ability to manage data effectively and streamline processes. Additionally, the ability to work on call ensures that the MDS Assistant can respond promptly to the needs of the facility and its residents, maintaining high standards of care.
