The Principal Database Administrator will design, implement and maintain databases and strategies to ensure performance, availability, integrity and security of company databases. Monitor and improve database performance and capacity utilization to provide high database availability and redundancy.

Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide Azure SQL database solutions that support company objectives
- Work with software design and development teams in designing database architectures and data modeling, building database schemas, tables, procedures and views
- Work with the system administrators for hardware and software installations and configurations
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Azure SQL databases, ensuring their integrity, security, and high performance
- Collaborate with the infrastructure team to design, implement, and maintain the database architecture, including high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Manage database environments within the Azure cloud platform
- Participate in database testing and quality assurance processes to validate database changes and updates
- Analyze and tune Azure SQL database for optimal efficiency by Identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks, implementing query optimization, and fine-tuning database configurations to achieve optimal performance
- Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements, including effective use of indexes, enabling parallel query execution, and other DBMS features, such as query store
- Create and manage efficient database indexes to enhance query performance and reduce database access times
- Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Add and remove users, administer roles and permissions, audit, and check for security problems
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Azure SQL Server Data Engineer with experience in design, implementation, and management
- 4+ years proven experience managing Databases on Azure or AWS
- 1+ years of experience PII Personally Identifiable Information or PHI Personal Health Information
- 1+ years of experience with change management systems, such as ServiceNow and Jira
- 1+ years of experience with SQL waits, locking, blocking and resource contention
- United States citizenship is required for this position.

- Bachelors degree in related field
- 3+ years of experience with Design, Configuration, and Administration of highly available enterprise PostgreSQL solutions
- 1+ years of experience with federal contracts, including STIG, NIST, SOC auditing, CUI, PII/PHI
- 1+ years of data security with regards to Confidential Unclassified Information
- 1+ years of experience with Design, Configuration, and Administration of highly available enterprise PostgreSQL solutions
