Job Summary
The EHR Application Specialist I is a multi-functional customer service-oriented individual that provides and coordinates application support responses and training for internal users in a timely, efficient, accurate and kind manner. The EHR Application Specialist I answers users’ questions, provides expert support, solves electronic health record problems, develops department specific trainings, trains end users including clinical staff in classroom settings and uses discretion to prioritize ticketing assignment and completion.

Job Summary
The EHR Application Specialist I is a multi-functional customer service-oriented individual that provides and coordinates application support responses and training for internal users in a timely, efficient, accurate and kind manner. The EHR Application Specialist I answers users’ questions, provides expert support, solves electronic health record problems, develops department specific trainings, trains end users including clinical staff in classroom settings and uses discretion to prioritize ticketing assignment and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to Electronic Health Record (EHR) software systems and integrated software products; serve as the primary liaison and communicator between clinical teams and technology teams to optimize EHR use.
- Training new and veteran users in classroom groups and one-on-one according to best practice within clinical workflows for each discipline area.
- Facilitate the training of department specific Super Users to assure accessible front-line support in clinical and non-clinical settings.
- Assist with creating, maintaining department specific training materials that account for the multiple functions and goals of members within a clinical team.
- Research trends, patterns, and types of issues end users encounter and work with application engineers on solutions.
- With direction of supervisor, may analyze, design, and modify EHR configurations; engages testing procedures prior to implementation.
- Consults with users to identify best practice operating procedures (workflows) and program objectives; may write documentation to describe/support development, logic, and configurations (build documentation).
- Supports version upgrades; creates training curricula updates and assists with coordinating communication related to functionality implementation.
- Assists with arranging data interfaces to ensure business needs are met; supports data conversions as assigned.
- Utilizing clinical background and knowledge, problem solve and develop department specific workflows as they relate to applications.
- Walk staff through problem-solving process and gather follow up information to research solutions; assures all advisement is compliant with CPT and ICD-10 coding rules by coordinating with Compliance team members.
- Follow up with staff to ensure Electronic Health Record (EHR) support issues have been resolved.
- Create and maintain various accounts for users and providers to access Electronic Health Record systems.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (as applicable) in a clinically-focused medical role is preferred including but not limited to Licensed Professional Nurse, Registered Nurse, Health Care Administration, Health Information Management, Medical Billing & Coding, or other related field.
- A degree in a computer science-related field may be acceptable along with a combination of appropriate experience in a health care setting.
- 2-4 years applicable experience working with electronic health record (EHR) applications
- Achievement as NextGen Certified Professional (NCP) is preferred in EHR and EPM.
- Experience interpreting and applying CPT and ICD-10 Codes.
