Description

Responsibilities:

The Assessment and Referral Manager directs and manages the day-to-day operation of the Admissions department.

Familiarity with continuum of care of Methodist Family Health

Performs personnel management duties including screening and selection of admission staff, providing department orientation and training.

Responsible for all patient intake calls: providing information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff requesting information regarding potential admissions.

Develop and/or maintain relationships with referral sources. Works collaboratively with the Business Development department and in cooperation with the NEA Business Development Manager, provides and accepts necessary referral source feedback.

Compiles paperwork/data for all contacts so that appropriate records are maintained and available regarding referral sources.

Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committee and offers quality measures for departmental evaluation and standards

Work closely with administrators and staff to ensure open communication, rapid problem solving and effect changes when needed to improve customer service and outcomes.

Conducts and documents regular performance evaluations of all Admissions personnel in collaboration with the Director of Assessment and Referral.

Assists in ensuring compliance of licensing agency regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, Department of Health, as well as federal regulatory standards for corporate compliance, including HIPPA and EMTALA.

Recruit and hire Admissions personnel. Provide verbal and written reports to the Hospital Administrator as requested.

Participate in the Safety/Environment of Care Committee and actively monitor areas related to patient safety and risk management.

Duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s level Mental Health Professional preferred, Bachelors Degree Accepted.
  • Outstanding Oral Communication skills, high level of initiative, motivation, independent judgment and organizational skills are required.
  • Assessment and intervention skills, including knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria.
  • Experience in assessing patients and determining appropriate level of care.
  • Basic personnel management or supervisory skills preferred.
