This position is an entry-level leadership position. Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Production Supervisor, this person will help drive Boochcraft toward greater competitiveness and customer satisfaction through improvements in delivery, capacity, yield, and quality. This person will be responsible for the implementation of new processes, the creation of SOPs, validating SOPs, and training brewery production employees on brewery processes.
This role requires a person who can thrive in a fast-growing and emergent category. This employee needs to be flexible and adaptive. Must have the ability to execute in a high-pressure environment, that will require immediate action as needed. The first point of contact for brewery process challenges and questions. This person does not supervise or manage employees, rather they manage brewery processes that are being performed by the approved SOP that have been signed off by the Director of Operations.

- Ability to develop tasks lists from a schedule and coordinate a small team in the execution of daily production orders.
- Assist in training and monitoring the training progress of new employees.
- Ensure short and long-term production goals, objectives, and plans are met, subject to approval by the Director of Operations.
- Work directly with the Production Supervisors and the Director of Operations to plan, coordinate, and control the SOP implementation, training, and sign-offs.
- Provide the team with guidance, direction, and the authority to train and correct employees on brewery processes as signed off by the Director of Operations
- Keep the Brewing Supervisors and the Director of Operations informed about important process developments in real-time.
- Maintain clear lines of communication with the Operations Team as well as all Company team members.
- Setup, distribute, and review daily packaging orders.
- Assist with monthly review of packaging orders to determine areas of improvement within the department.
- Collect, analyze, and database quality control data. This involves both in-process and post-production quality control monitoring and analysis.
- Update and/or revise troubleshoot production SOPs and create new methods and techniques to improve the overall quality of the product.
- Assist with process-related production issues and researching possible causes and solutions.
- Perform standardized analytical testing which includes but is not limited to: pH, gravity, dissolved carbon dioxide, dissolved oxygen, ABV, flavor, and shelf-life. This includes organizing and tracking analytical data.
- Perform any and/or all packaging tasks as part of the brewery production team. Such as but not limited to: cleanliness, organizing dry goods and inventory tracking, CIP and Sanitation of packaging equipment.
- Schedule and perform area deep clean tasks according to need – including detailed cleaning of packaging machinery, small components, pumps, conveyors, drains, etc.
- Work with brewery personnel to determine the root cause and possible solutions for analytical issues.
- Adhere to the Quality Management System and provide inputs toward continually improving its scope and effectiveness.
- Open and close the brewery as needed.
- Continue their education as needed to fill gaps in technical knowledge.
- Maintain brewery equipment to minimize unplanned downtime delays, to include the cleaning of all equipment and facility operations.
- Drive a safe working environment for all brewery personnel by enforcing SOPs and safe work practices and the use of proper PPE.
- Cross area training with other Brewery Area Leads to have the ability to train and validate processes in other areas of the Brewery.
- This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Brewery Area Leads will also perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Brewery Supervisor and Director of Operations.
- Education: High school diploma or GED. A combination of coursework and on-the-job training that provides the technical skills necessary to understand essential components and processes of a manufacturing facility.
- Experience: External Applicants will have at least 18 months of experience working within a similar production or manufacturing facility. Previous Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Brewing, or other relevant experience is required. Internal Applicants must be employed at Boochcraft for a minimum of 6 months with all necessary sign-offs completed, adherence to safety practices, strong attendance record, attention to detail, positive attitude towards work/peers and those who are in good employment standing to be eligible for promotion. Internal applicants must also have demonstrated and documented experience with Boochcraft equipment and procedures.
- Preferred experience: Prior experience developing SOPs and Training employees, maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment; Lean Manufacturing methods; Statistical Process Control (SPC); performing quality control tasks; driving workplace safety, all aspects of brewing including recipe development and pilot brewing, scaling, full production, packaging, and quality control.
- License or Certification: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license. Brewing or Food Science certificates preferred but not required.
- Specialized Skills: This person must be able to create and perform all Production SOPs and have the ability to be trained and certified for forklift, scissor lift, or company vehicle usage where required. They must have training and planning skills and the ability to work with other departments to achieve the requirements of their role.
- Preferred Skills: They must be proficient in the use of various quality assurance tools to measure ABV, specific gravity, etc. Ability to develop tasks lists from a schedule and coordinate a small team in the execution of daily production orders.
- Computer Skills: Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

- Applicants must be able to perform physical activities which include but are not limited to lifting, bending over, kneeling, twisting, climbing on ladders, stooping, crouching, and routinely lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 150 lbs. assisted. They may be required to stand for various hours at a time. This person is expected to use/operate latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, pumps, valves, etc., that will require dexterity, manipulation and hand-eye coordination. Due to varying business needs, this candidate must be able to work anytime from a 6 am to 5 pm window with the occasional overnight and/or weekend coverage. They will be expected to occasionally handle hazardous chemicals.
