Why This Job is Important.

The Director of Logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing inbound/outbound transportation operations (domestic & global), 3rd party warehousing strategies, and providing financial analysis of costs incurred. This role requires strong technical expertise in transportation management, a proven ability to mentor and develop teams, and extensive experience in cross-functional collaboration with procurement, warehousing, and customer service. The Director will develop strategic initiatives and drive a culture of continuous improvement to lower total transportation/warehousing costs while enhancing service levels and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

What We Expect From You In The Role

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • DOT requirements, C-TPAT, NAFTA, Hazmat, US Customs, Import/Export
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Warehousing/Transportation, preferably in a CPG environment.
  • Develop and implement a logistics strategy that meets NP's overall objectives while also meeting customer needs: focusing on cost, speed, and reliability. Develop and manage KPIs to ensure these goals are met.
  • Develop relationships, negotiate rates, and develop service metrics with all service providers (TL/IML/LTL/small package/3PL/ocean carriers/freight forwarders/customs brokers).
  • Prepare annual freight and warehouse budgets, identify/execute cost improvement initiatives, and measure success against all.
  • Select and manage Nice-Pak 3PL operations in North America.
  • Prepare thorough financial analyses to vet through all functionally related potential cost savings initiatives.
  • Understand all import/export requirements, including U.S. customs/FDA/EPA requirements, and manage relationships with customs brokers.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other technologies to drive efficiency and automation.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to secure transportation rates for suppliers internationally, particularly in Asia & Europe.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to efficiently enhance service levels and resolve transportation-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all D.O.T. Hazardous Material regulations.
  • Understand NAFTA requirements and provide oversight for annual compliance.
  • Maintain C-TPAT Certification standards.
  • Troubleshoot daily issues within the logistics organization and work with the team to manage through them.
  • Foster personal development growth with continuous coaching and feedback on career development, partnering with HR and direct line manager
  • Supervise and develop any assigned direct reports, including career development and project prioritization
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop, prioritize, and execute project portfolio
  • Strong expertise in transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technology solutions.
  • Proven ability to renovate and optimize logistics teams and processes.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing carrier contracts.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven decision-making and performance tracking.

Where You Will Work

  • Primarily working in a corporate/warehouse environment.
  • Required travel: 10%
