We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team at Cherry Aerospace, a leading aerospace manufacturer committed to innovation and excellence. In this individual contributor role, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives that optimize our manufacturing and operational processes, focusing on enhancing efficiency, quality, and safety within our aerospace production environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process improvement methodologies, an in-depth understanding of aerospace manufacturing, and the ability to independently lead improvement projects while fostering a culture of continuous learning and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute continuous improvement projects across manufacturing, engineering, and quality functions within the aerospace division.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies to identify, analyze, and improve key processes, from production to supply chain management.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis and apply corrective actions to resolve complex issues affecting process efficiency, product quality, and safety.
  • Develop, implement, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and sustainability of improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to assess and redesign processes, tools, and workflows to increase productivity, reduce waste, and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., AS9100, FAA regulations).
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives through process optimization and waste reduction without compromising quality or safety.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, process mapping, and workshops to engage team members in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for process improvement methodologies and provide guidance and support to teams across the organization.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate progress, results, and recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in continuous improvement or process improvement within an aerospace, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
  • Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt certification preferred), or similar process improvement frameworks.
  • In-depth understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory standards (AS9100, FAA, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to identify trends, problems, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear, concise manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, etc.).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a regulated aerospace environment with knowledge of FAA and EASA compliance requirements.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and other manufacturing software tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing or automated assembly processes.
  • Experience in data-driven decision-making and statistical process control (SPC).
