Koinonia Family Services is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Youth Counselor in its Koinonia Connections Emergency Placement Program in Rocklin, CA. The program provides short-term care for youth ages 6 to 17 with challenging behaviors, who are placed due to trauma until a more appropriate, long-term placement can be arranged.

This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. Youth Counselors must be able to safely and reliably transport youth to medical appointments, therapy sessions, educational activities, and other essential services that support their overall well-being. In addition, Youth Counselors must be prepared to respond to crisis situations by providing immediate transportation to ensure the safety and security of the youth, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods. The nature of these responsibilities necessitates the ability to drive to ensure timely, reliable, confidential and effective support for the youth and families we serve. Koinonia Family Services is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Youth Counselor in its Koinonia Connections Emergency Placement Program in Rocklin, CA. The program provides short-term care for youth ages 6 to 17 with challenging behaviors, who are placed due to trauma until a more appropriate, long-term placement can be arranged.
The Youth Counselor Opportunity Includes
- A great chance to support kids who have experienced trauma
- Hourly pay rate: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour or higher, depending upon overall qualifications
- Medical, dental, vision, chiropractic and behavioral health plan
- Paid time off (PTO)
- Participation in our 401k plan
- Holiday pay premium (time-and-one-half for working certain holidays)
- Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM
- Providing direct care and supervision of youth in a residential setting
- Assisting with the morning routine of getting youth up and ready for school or other appointments
- Transporting youth to school or other appointments
- Implementing individualized treatment plans that address their unique needs
- Working collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the safety and well-being of youth
- Maintaining records for youth
- Attending requirement meetings and trainings
- Light housekeeping and/or meal preparation
- Coursework or training in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field (preferred)
- Two years of experience working with children or youth in a residential treatment or group home setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of and ability to apply trauma-informed care principles (preferred)
- Compassionate and empathetic nature with strong personal and professional boundaries
- Passion for supporting at-risk youth who have experienced trauma
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and de-escalate challenging behaviors (training provided)
- Dependable and reliable work ethic
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation
