Job Summary

The Director of Finance’s purpose at Gemini is to effectively oversee finance, accounting operations, treasury, tax and compliance functions of the company. As head of Finance, the position will create, guide and implement best practices as they relate to the company’s financial decisions and develop strategic plans. The Director of Finance leads teams that manage day to day finance and accounting activities including financial analysis, forecast and reporting, general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, fixed assets, and fleet management. This position is instrumental in maintaining robust accounting records, comprehensive controls, and budgets to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of financial results. As part of the company’s leadership team, the Director of Finance is a strategic partner to senior management and leadership to direct the company's financial policies, decisions, strategic directives and initiatives. The Finance Director must be detail-oriented, analytical contributor and motivational leader who works to train and build the team to meet the growth and ongoing demands of the organization as a whole.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Compensation: $190,000 - $239,000 Annually

Responsibilities

  • Guide the company’s financial decisions through policy establishment, monitoring, and enforcement
  • Participate in the development of the company’s strategic plans by preparing and analyzing financial reports, recommending strategies, and advising the executive leadership team.
  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s Financial functions including, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, fleet management, financial analysis, and forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain a streamlined month and quarter end close process, as well as implement controls over accounting transactions and document accounting policies and procedures.
  • Create financial statements and reporting for all corporate entities, owned and leased properties and assets.
  • Working with banking partners, lead and support treasury functions of the Company including fraud prevention and polices, manage investments and related compliance reporting for corporate entities.
  • Lead the budget process by designing and implementing a budget compliance model, reviewing and approving budgets and related expenditures, as well as ensuring compliance.
  • Achieve budget objectives through expense management, variance analysis and corrective actions; calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Generate, analyze, and report on financial metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Lead and provide mentorship, training, counseling, and performance appraisal to members of the Finance team. Ensure cross training exists, processes are updated, and lean principles are adhered to and practiced.
  • Develop, implement and monitor controls as they relate to functions and financials of the company in order to protect assets and mitigate risk, including maintaining confidentiality of financial information and plans.
  • Responsible for working with outside financial partners and banks, providing PBC and supporting documentation to outside CPA and other consultants on corporate tax filings and payments ensuring timely and accurate filing of payments, returns and notices for all Gemini entities, including preparation of R&D Tax Credit data.
  • Conduct audits and support requests for General Liability, 401K, Retirement benefit and Worker’s comp, provide timely and accurate information to necessary parties.
  • Oversee fleet management by making decisions regarding vehicle purchases and analyzing the P&L impact, ensuring proper vehicle maintenance, and monitoring driver habit reporting.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion while working under general direction.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Education and/or experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; Master’s degree preferred
    • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance
    • 5+ years experience successfully managing a team of direct reports
  • Skills:
    • Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year close process
    • Ability to create, implement, and manage department process guidelines
    • Delegate and properly allocate resources within the department and cross-functionally
    • Lean business principles, flowchart processes, and value stream mapping and understanding a plus
    • Advanced time management and organizational skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Presentation and public speaking
    • Ability to handle a high volume of work and function in a fast-paced environment, on deadline
    • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Technology:
    • Advanced proficiency using a computer, business phone, office software, video conferencing, and other computer programs such as Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.), CRM tools, and Excel
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting software such as Quickbooks
    • Experience creating financial statements, reports and analyzing data, including the use of of spreadsheets and pivot tables

Functional Requirements

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including, but not limited to:

TRAVEL

Travel may be required for this position up to 10% of working hours for business meetings and training as needed.
