We are seeking a Director of Academic and Student Services to join AmeriSchools. This position may be located at our Tucson or Phoenix campus. The Director of Academic and Student Services is responsible for the development and implementation of all components of the district's instructional program, and shall be responsible for the cooperative working relationship amongst site principals, and such instructional and curriculum personnel as are necessary to establish a well-coordinated program of education kindergarten through grade 8.

Responsibilities
- Initiate kindergarten through grade eight curriculum planning and development and implementation, including but not limited to curriculum mapping and pacing guides.
- Administer, coordinate, and supervise the instructional program in all schools by cooperatively working with the principal and faculty of each building.
- Administer, coordinate, and supervise the AmeriSchools Special Education Program.
- Take action to ensure that AmeriSchools complies with all federal, state, and Board rules, laws, and policies related to curriculum, instruction, and Special Education.
- Approve the selection of instructional materials and programs through a cooperative effort with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate AmeriSchools assessment programs, including mandated Arizona state assessments.
- Develop and initiate evaluation procedures for all programs.
- Supervise and coordinate a program of orientation for new teachers and in-service training for experienced teachers.
- Inform principals and teachers of available instructional materials and assist with the planning and in-service use of such materials.
- Inform the principals of progress in the implementation of all special education services programs.
- Ensure programs comply with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); ensures each applicable student is provided with Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is properly modified for his/her individual needs.
- Direct the summer school program.
- Develop and coordinates the integration of state standards into the special education programs.
- Maintain a visible presence in the schools.
- Perform other tasks or assume other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director.
- Master’s Degree in Education with three years experience in administration, and have an established record of successful experience as a teacher and as a Curriculum Development Supervisor.
- SPED certification strongly preferred but not required.
- Full, up-to-date knowledge of the Arizona Standards and Assessment Programs.
- Knowledge of educational software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, verify facts, make valid conclusions and deal with abstract concepts.
- Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs at times.
- Travel between district sites.
