This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who have experience with general construction labor, concrete work, and utility tasks on active job sites. The Skilled Laborer must be versatile, physically capable, and able to work without constant supervision. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Measure distances, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines for layout.
  • Bolt, nail, and align concrete forms.
  • Transport concrete via buggies or wheelbarrows; assist in shoveling and raking concrete.
  • Signal operators to align and position heavy equipment.
  • Operate jackhammers and assist in grade leveling.
  • Mix concrete and mortar for various uses.
  • Align and seal pipe sections, including mechanical joints.
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
  • Expose underground utility lines safely using hand tools.
  • Apply caulking compounds with tools or by hand.
  • Perform demolition tasks and dismantle forms and temporary structures.
  • Complete daily paperwork thoroughly and promptly.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum two years of relevant construction experience.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow instructions and solve basic on-site problems independently.
  • Licenses: Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Tools to Bring: Concrete boots, claw hammer, tape measure, and small sledgehammer.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand (15%) and walk (30%) on soil/concrete surfaces regularly.
  • Sit during travel or equipment operation (10%).
  • Lift up to 80 lbs; push/pull up to 200 lbs during routine tasks.
  • Climb up to 5 feet on ladders or trucks; frequent bending and material handling.
  • Comfortable using shovels, rakes, hammers, jackhammers, and compaction equipment.
  • Work occurs primarily outdoors (95%) in varying weather conditions.
