Role Summary:
A Sr. Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the data intelligence and data governance needs of the Credit Union (CU). Primary duties shall include the maintenance and validation of the CU’s data governance system, development of data intelligence tools, and creation of data intelligence reporting to meet the needs of stakeholders within the CU to further their ability to make quality, data driven decisions. As a member of the Data Intelligence Team, a Sr. Data Analyst will be an integral part of the ongoing strategic planning and monitoring process for the CU.

Role Summary:
A Sr. Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the data intelligence and data governance needs of the Credit Union (CU). Primary duties shall include the maintenance and validation of the CU’s data governance system, development of data intelligence tools, and creation of data intelligence reporting to meet the needs of stakeholders within the CU to further their ability to make quality, data driven decisions. As a member of the Data Intelligence Team, a Sr. Data Analyst will be an integral part of the ongoing strategic planning and monitoring process for the CU.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Represent Data Intelligence in projects and committees as assigned.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and support of accurate analytical models, data intelligence/reporting systems, and data warehouse solutions to meet the data intelligence needs of the CU and its stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal requesters to understand their information needs and identifies ways to visualize and present information in a user-friendly manner.
- Support the ongoing validation and maintenance of the CU’s data sources in support of the CU’s data governance framework.
- Collaborate with data engineers and IT professionals to complete the gathering and cleansing process for data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and quality, and optimize the collection, storage, and retrieval process within data warehouse to support the needs of the CU.
- Develop analytical strategies to solve business problems by understanding the business problem, identifying relevant data, gathering and summarizing data meaningfully, and applying appropriate statistical analysis. Lead the training of stakeholders throughout the organization on the CU’s data intelligence systems.
- Monitor indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements. Provide suggestions for improved performance and adherence when appropriate.
- Lead evaluations of the CU’s quality control systems and report findings along with recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Lead the training of new team members within the CU’s Data Intelligence team with a focus on the tools and methods utilized by the team to accomplish their essential job functions.
- Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge regarding the CU’s core operating systems, data warehouse solutions, and business intelligence systems and software solutions.
- Uses statistical methods and techniques to identify patterns, trends, correlations, and anomalies, and extract meaningful insights
- Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
- Attend Credit Union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by Management. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
- Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.
- Display mutual respect, trust and dignity. Act in the best interest of the Credit Union; lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times. Control risk and manage duties and tasks in a safe manner.
- Ability to maintain thorough knowledge of CU business lines, processes, and products.
- Strong analytical, modeling, and critical thinking skills to interpret complex datasets and generate meaningful insights.
- Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to changes in business models and modern technologies.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, data mining techniques, data wrangling/cleansing, and business intelligence tools.
- High understanding of data warehousing tools (SAS, SQL, Hadoop) as well as programming languages (Python, R, JavaScript.)
- Preferred understanding of cloud solutions, such as Snowflake, Databricks, etc.
- Effective communication, summarization, and presentation skills between diverse departments with varying technical knowledge.
- Demonstrate commitment to continual process improvement.
- Ability to work jointly and successfully in a team environment.
- Able to prioritize tasks and projects with varying deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to interpret, validate, and balance large amounts of financial data with relative ease.
What You Will Need:
- Four (4) year degree in Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Data Analysis, Statistics; or equivalent training, coursework, and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of similar or related experience; financial institution environment experience preferred.
- Elevated level of ability with business intelligence tools and large-scale data management.
- Proficient with standard office equipment, word processing and reporting.
