GENERAL PURPOSE
This on call position is responsible for the care of children enrolled in Wide Horizons Preschool, Toohey Park classes, and Kidz Kingdom. This position will ensure a safe, clean, and fun environment.
Required Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Must be at least 21 years old. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Must have previous childcare experience with the ability to communicate with children from ages two (2) years to seven (7) years of age required. Must have good organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
Essential Functions
Must have and maintain: a current CPR/AED certification for infant/child within one (1) year of employment and certified as a Mandated Reporter for abused and neglected children.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: frequently move about the facility and position oneself to move children weighing up to 50 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position will primarily work in an indoor environment with moderate lighting and noise, and will be exposed to dust, cleaning chemicals, and child illnesses.
SALARY
$15.00 per hour
SALARY RANGE
Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum
$15.00 - $18.75 - $22.50

Essential Functions
- Setup equipment and supplies for daily use.
- Assist in organizing, implementing daily activities, and other programming activities as assigned.
- Supervise, interact with, and apply age-appropriate guidance to children during activities during the entirety of one’s shift (when children are present) in a positive and enriching way.
- Greet and acknowledge participants and guests in a timely manner.
- Arrive on time for respective shifts.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment at all times.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment daily and report needed repairs promptly.
- Observe behavior, assess appropriateness and apply behavior management techniques when needed.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
