JOB SUMMARY:
To build and perform dynamometer testing of developmental engines based on an established Research and Development schedule and to maintain dynamometer equipment to ensure test data is accurate and repeatable. This role is responsible for technical support of Operations, Manufacturing, and Sales.

Computer Skills
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel; high proficiency interpreting technical manuals

Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems and concepts and make decisions that are sensible and based on available information
Communication Skills
Precise communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate with internal colleague groups and customers

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Accuracy and completeness of actual test data, engine assembly notes, test notes, and evaluation documentation
- Ensure proper dynamometer operation to provide accurate engine test data
- Ensure the security of R&D test documentation and equipment
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness of engine build areas and R&D storage areas
- Identify and implement cost savings and performance improvement
- Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement of parts
- Assists project personnel with technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing
- Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements, and related specifications
- Cost conscious, realizing limitations of project budget
- Prepare project status reports
- Strong communication, time management, and goal-setting skills

Requirements

Experience
- Thorough knowledge of the internal combustion engine and fuel systems
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engine building
- Understanding of technical documentation used in the communication of engine service and specifications
- Knowledge using precision inspection and measuring equipment for the evaluation and assembly of internal combustion engines
- Working knowledge of the setup and operation of engine dynamometer testing equipment and atmospheric measurement equipment (thermometer, barometer, atmospheric pressure gage) used in the setup of engine dynamometers
- Working knowledge of common manufacturing processes used to manufacture pistons including boring, turning, milling, honing, and reaming
