Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of Digital Dome Theater, interactive exhibits,

and digital signage.

  • Help upkeep a routine maintenance schedule for digital exhibits, including

calibration, hardware refreshment, and troubleshooting.

  • Assist with special events during and after hours in the Dome Theater,

running lights/sound/audio.

  • Assist in developing programming/content for dome including but not limited

to: planetarium shows, storytimes, meeting backdrops, content for

school groups and science demos.

  • Assist other staff in creation and scheduling of signage content for front

desk, and dome preshow.

  • Assist with light editing and maintenance of the museum s website to

include working with and training museum staff to load up-to-date information

on the museum's website and provide assistance as needed.

  • Assist in the staffing and training of the digital dome theater, providing

fill in staffing if needed.

  • Respond to weekend system issues with the digital dome theater and

interactive exhibits.

  • Assist in the development of digital media-related documentation, including

procedural and troubleshooting guides.

In cooperation with City IT, assist with monitoring computer systems and

applications throughout the museum, updating, planning, and recommending

upgrades and/or modifications as identified or required

  • Assist other museum departments and/or perform other duties, as necessary
  • Work during peak museum visit times, including the end-of-year holiday

season and other identified busy times at the museum, such as evening

programming

  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and standards of conduct set forth by

FCMoD

  • Become familiar with the major enterprise software used at the museum such as

Altru, Social Good, Fourwinds, and Reach Media Network to assist with

maintaining systems and troubleshooting issues.

Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability

to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

An understanding of platform and development issues for both PC and Mac.

Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and convey training information

clearly and effectively, with a willingness to both learn and teach

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents common to this

environment

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with

users, co-workers and vendors while participating on inter- and intra-agency

teams.

Problem-solve, take initiative, and produce quality work with little

supervision.

Must have an eye for detail, talent for organization, drive for

efficiency, and a need for creativity

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be calm under pressure, with

the ability able to analyze situations, responding quickly to deliver

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management systems,

or related field from an accredited college or university preferred, or

degree in progress. Technical coursework or equivalent experience/expertise

in website nd computer systems, communication, or informal education

preferred. Prior experience working in a museum or educational environment is
