The WV Autism Training Center’s School-wide Behavior Support Specialist is non-classified position funded through a grant awarded by the WV Department of Education and administered by the Marshall University Research Corporation (MURC).
This position serves the Northern region of West Virginia and includes the following counties: Hancock. Brooke, Ohio. Marshall, Wetzel, Monongalia, Preston, Taylor. Marion, Barbour, Hairrison, Lewis, Doddridge, Braxton, Gilmer, Ritchie, Wood, Pleasants, and Tyler, Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, Mineral, Grant, Hardy. and Pendleton. The applicant is expected to live in or within 20 miles of the region.

The applicant is expected to live in or within 20 miles of the region.
- Lead an inter-agency effort focused on infrastructure development within West Virginia’s education system necessary for the effective implementation of a system-wide delivery of behavior and mental health intervention and supports.
- Research, create. present or facilitate to audiences of all different sizes and programmatic level in topics related to a multi-tiered system of behavior and mental health support.
- Collaborate witb WVDE to understand and implement WVDE policy and WVDE initiatives.
- Collaborate within the WVBMHTAC to design, coordinate, and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators in the topics of positive behavioral interventions and supports and other behavior and mental health topics.
- Collaborate or independently administer projects that are identified as needs across the state.
- Continual personal professional development of PBIS and Behavior/Mental Health best practices.
- Continue to develop an in-depth understanding of PBIS, systems and behavior change. and the scope and sequence of technical assistance provided by the SWPBIS project.
- Oversee the design and implementation of multi-tiered support plans with autism and other behavior or mental health challenges.
- Aid in resource-rnapping, collaboration, and help identify ways for school- and community-based mental health providers to provide interventions and supports in schools.
- Assist and coach SAT teams, Advanced Tier Teams, and District Leadership Teams in specifically assigned regions.
- Train, support, and coach school personnel in the development and use of data collection, data based decision-making problem-solving models, Behavior Support Plans, Safety Plans, Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Train, assist, coach, or facilitate teachers, schools, or counties to create or maintain problem
- solving processes.
- Schedule, organize, coordinate medium-scale trainings.
- Provide support and coaching to regional teams on capturing, tracking, and interpreting fidelity and outcome data.
- Maintain records of all technical assistance provided, facilitate other data collection as instructed, travel as needed for regional, state, center, and project-related needs, and maintain individual, independent responsibilities regarding scheduling, communication, and regional organization.

Required Qualifications
Education
- The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, education, or an academic field related to understanding and providing behavioral supports to school-aged children.
- The successful candidate will have extensive experience leading and facilitating interdisciplinary teams, demonstrate the ability to carry out goal-directed work duties, and be available for the state-wide travel necessary to carry out duties specific to this project
