Job purpose
The Equipment Specialist and Facility Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role provides timely repair and maintenance services, coordinates outsourced work, and acts as the first responder to urgent equipment, system, and building issues. The position is responsible for developing preventive maintenance programs, maintaining outdoor spaces, and ensuring the facility remains secure, functional, and compliant with company standards. Through strong coordination and communication with internal teams, vendors, and service providers, this role supports uninterrupted manufacturing operations and contributes to a clean, safe, and productive work environment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
Repairs-Manufacturing Equipment and Facility
- Provide service to Manufacturing staff to troubleshoot and resolve any urgent issues with equipment or lab fixtures.
- Perform repairs on all equipment and collaborate with service vendors in the event equipment cannot be fixed in-house.
- Coordinate the completion of equipment and facility repairs and ensure they meet company standards.
- Act as the primary contact for any building-related issues, including those related to equipment and systems, as well as outdoor areas such as lawn and gardens.
- Write effective preventive maintenance procedures for new equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance Schedule (according to schedule and procedures).
- Work with Production Manager on Operator Care program.
- Schedule and coordinate outsourced preventive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedule for building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Ensure that outdoor areas are safe and accessible, addressing any issues such as pathways, lighting, and drainage.
- Provide primary response to manufacturing system alarms as part of 24/7 response team.
- Act as the primary point of contact and first responder to environmental alarms, water filtration system, liquid nitrogen tanks, biohazard material pickups, and power outages.
- With the support of the Administrative Coordinator, facilitate timely and effective communication with employees regarding maintenance and repair needs, minimizing disruptions to business operations.
- Ensure the building is secure when IMMY is closed (holidays, weather-related closures, weekends).
- Coordinate with landscaping services to ensure the upkeep and aesthetic appeal of the facility’s exterior.
- Provide input for the building maintenance and improvement budget.
- Maintain records of reported issues, actions taken, and resolutions to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
- Any other duties as assigned
Required qualifications:
- High mechanical and electrical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair/improve equipment
- Excellent teamwork and effective communication skills
- Highly self-directed individual with a mindset for continuous improvement, excellent attention to detail, and ability to effectively work in a fast-paced, high-workload, and high-stress environment
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrate efficient management of time and resources by working on multiple projects simultaneously, under strict deadlines, with minimal supervision and sometimes limited resources
- Must effectively communicate with others, be approachable, have a positive and flexible attitude, display a strong work ethic, and demonstrate the ability and desire to teach others
- Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology OR 1+ year in a manufacturing, equipment, or validation support role
- Familiar with Lean Six Sigma principles, FDA regulations, and ISO 9001/13485 regulations
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar software programs
- Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking contractors by any means necessary, including tools such as Google Translate or AI
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs
- Experience with Freeze Dryers, Spraying Systems, Centrifuges, Water Purification Systems, Pumps, and Air Handling Equipment
