DakotAbilities, a human service agency providing vocational and residential services for adults with developmental disabilities, is looking to fill Full- time and Part-time Direct Support Professional positions and Lead positions. Responsibilities include providing daily living support to people with disabilities in their home, assisting them to achieve their personal goals. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with personal care, bathing, mealtime, positioning, lifting, shopping, and involvement in the community.

Essential Responsibilities

Ability to stay awake and alert during all shifts.
Ability to work in awkward positions.
Ability to work in sustained flexion and crouched positions.

Valid SD drivers license with safe driving record.

Essential Responsibilities
The following may not include all of the tasks and responsibilities delegated to this position:
- Support plans
- Provide input and information into the development of individual support plans.
- Maintain knowledge and ensure implementation of each person’s individualized support plan (including behavior, dietary, medical, etc.).
- Community involvement
- Assist people in accessing and participating in community services and events of their choice.
- Assist people in developing and maintaining relationships within the community.
- Driving
- Safely operating and maintaining agency vehicles.
- Assure safety by properly using tie downs, seat belts, lifts, and all other required safety equipment.
- Training
- Complete required training (OSHA, CPR, OMA, Relias Learning, and other trainings as required).
- Confidentiality
- Maintain confidentiality in all environments.
- Safety
- Perform safe transfers and repositioning specific for each person’s needs.
- Recognize, report, and react to any safety hazards in all environments and in a timely manner.
- Comply with outside agency regulations (Dept. of Health, ARSD, OSHA, etc.)
- Personal care
- Respect individual choice while providing personal care.
- Provide quality assistance with personal care (using the bathroom, bathing, eating, oral hygiene, dressing, medical care, etc.).
- Health
- Safe and proper administration of medications and treatments.
- Recognize & timely report health concerns.
- Dietary
- Assist with following dietary requirements and individualized diet plans, including preparing meals according to dietary guidelines.
- Documentation
- Complete and accurate documentation in all required areas (ie. Therap, programs, services, kitchen documentation, food temperatures, computer, and fabrications) using professional language.
- Cleaning
- Complete cleaning and laundry tasks as assigned.
- Follow the cleaning product usage guide.
- Teamwork
- Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow team members.
- Effective communication between coworkers, shifts, and departments.
- Consistently taking the initiative to complete job requirements.
- Relationships
- Develop and maintain professional and respectful relationships with all DakotAbilities stakeholders.
- Contract work
- Accurately completing all contract work while maintaining quality control and meeting deadlines.
- Attendance
- Work shifts as assigned with regular and reliable attendance.
- Follow the guidelines for contacting a manager with scheduling issues.
- Attend staff meetings.
Ability to stay awake and alert during all shifts.
Ability to work in awkward positions.
Ability to work in sustained flexion and crouched positions.
The Following Actions Are Performed Continuously
- Lift > 10 lbs. and see.
- Kneel, crouch, stand, walk, lift > 50 lbs., push, pull, bend, reach, handle, finger (pinch-type activity, repetitive movement, talk and hear.
- Sit, lift > 60 lbs., carry, pull, push, and balance.
- Crawl and climb.
High school diploma or equivalent.
