Duration/Schedule: Temporary
Contract: 6 months
Business Need / Purpose of Role:
The Operations Trainee will be responsible for learning all areas of port agency operations including managing vessel requirements, booking relevant services, and undertaking vessel boarding, and our principals to learn the safe and smooth turnaround of all appointed vessels within the jurisdiction of the port office. Operations Trainee will report to the Regional Operations Manager.
As an Operations Trainee you can expect the following:

Operations Trainee will report to the Regional Operations Manager.
As an Operations Trainee you can expect the following:
Gain insights as to how ships agency services are rendered to all customers at an excellent level.
- Assist with a smooth, quick turnaround of vessels, advising local authorities on vessel details keeping all relevant parties informed.
- Assist with boarding vessels when required across different ports and environments.
- Review current methods and propose new methods to reduce operational costs and find efficiencies for the port office.

- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations.
- Demonstrate ability to complete tasks regardless of obstacles.
- Detail-oriented, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package and aptitude to learn new internal tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, business proficiency in English. Bilingual a plus.
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Maritime Transportation or related major in a public or accredited private academic institution preferred
- Prior experience in marine agency field desired, but not required.
- Transitioning military personnel and veterans are encouraged to apply.
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- Once selected, federal regulations require that the applicant must either undergo a federal background check as part of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program or already possess a TWIC.
