Business Development Sales Engineer or Analyst

Location negotiable within Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula

Analyst Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, economics, finance, marketing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of NESC and NEC
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
  • Relevant experience may include business strategy, market research, financial analysis, statistics and communication
  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel to jobsites, off-site meetings and trainings (up to 15% travel per year) including overnight stays when necessary
  • Ability to pass an employment physical, a drug test and a background check
  • Master's Degree in business administration, analytics, economics or related field is a plus
  • Experience in business development or electric utility preferred
  • Knowledge in project management principles and fundamentals desired

Engineer Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of NESC and NEC
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
  • Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel to jobsites, off-site meetings, and trainings (up to 15% travel per year) including overnight stays when necessary
  • Ability to pass an employment physical, a drug test and a background check
  • P.E or ability to obtain P.E. a plus
  • Experience in electric distribution or transmission engineering, modeling and construction preferred
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PSSE, CAPE, GIS systems and survey techniques desired
  • Knowledge in Project Management principles and fundamentals desired

Duties Include

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape
  • Analyze data, performance metrics and financial reports to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for growth
  • Assist in developing strategies by evaluating market conditions, competition and customer behavior; provide recommendations on pricing, product offerings and target markets based on their analysis
  • Generate reports and dashboards to track performance and forecast trends and measure the effectiveness of initiatives
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of initiatives
  • Provide insights into customer behavior and preferences to identify strategic product/utility offerings
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners and vendors
  • Negotiate and influence stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes in deals and partnerships
  • Prepare presentations and present to management and/or customers
  • Coordinate projects between stakeholders from other affected departments
  • Understand NorthWestern energy electrical design standards
  • Ensure that cost estimates meet company standards and current tariffs
  • Maintain compliance with all related standards including industry and regulatory
  • Perform computer related functions such as drawing, spreadsheets and database compilations
  • Provide project oversite
  • Respond to customer growth/expansion request, including site visits
  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

Engineer Duties Will Also Include

  • Address technical challenges or issues that arise during the process or implementation phase
  • Work on complex opportunities where technical specifications, compliance and integration with existing systems are crucial; may be involved in the installation and implementation phases to ensure that the customer's needs are met
  • Work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements and demonstrate how the company's products or services meet those needs; this involves creating customized solutions, providing technical support and sometimes even assisting in the design of systems that fit the customer's specifications
  • Combine engineering knowledge with sales skills; should understand the utility company's products or services in-depth, such as power generation equipment, transmission systems or software solutions

Full-time position.

Analyst pay is $54,000 - $121,800 annually, depending on experience. Engineer (must have engineering degree) pay is $72,200 - $135,200 annually, depending on experience.
