The Supplier Quality engineer will work closely with our suppliers and purchasing group to resolve supplier issues and prevent their reoccurrence. Applies and maintains standards for manufacturing, quality, design, testing, and integration of materials into finished products. Works across all Analogic product groups to analyze non-conforming parts and processes, participate in nonconforming material disposition, arrange containment actions, corrective action requests, and perform supplier audits, as necessary.

This role collaborates with a range of internal departments, external partners, suppliers, and customers utilizing excellent communication skills, and a passion for excellence, integrity, innovation, and success. Must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without direct supervision.

Duties

  • Responsible for handling reported product non-conformances and providing feedback to internal and external customers.
  • Interfaces directly with suppliers to initiate corrective actions for control and elimination of supplier related deficiencies.
  • Provides support to operations, purchasing and various engineering teams. Leads supplier continuous improvement efforts alongside a team of buyers.
  • Creates, modifies, or reviews supplier control plans and associated First-Article or other inspection results to ensure receipt of acceptable products, materials, or services.
  • Reviews design/purchasing documentation to ensure accurate critical to quality criteria and provisions to guarantee supplier delivery of acceptable products, materials, or services.
  • Participates in new supplier qualification which may include planning and executing on-site supplier QMS or process audits.
  • Leads and/or participates in root-cause corrective action investigations and associated corrective and preventive actions (RCCA/CAPA), and continuous improvement (CI) projects related to supplier performance.
  • Reviews engineering changes proposed through the ECO process and provides supplier related feedback.
  • Utilizes a combination of data collection, data analysis, SPC and creative test approaches to verify products meet all design requirements including PFMEA studies.
  • Leads Lean/Six Sigma and/or other continuous improvement projects related to supplier quality.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Quality Assurance engineering associated with Medical, Semiconductor, defense, or other high-tech electro-mechanical equipment manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of international standards such as ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 13485:2016. Certified auditor training a plus.
  • Experience overseeing Material Review Board (MRB) investigations and dispositions.
  • Experience with supplier interactions and feedback. Oversight of supplier corrective actions requests and their effective resolution.
  • Experience with supplier scorecards, process control plans and verification/validation testing.
  • Significant experience with 5 why cause and effect or other structured problem-solving techniques (8D, CAPA, SCAR) is required.
  • Experience working with MES, ERP and PLM systems.

Other Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to analyze, measure, develop, and maintain Internal & supplier continuous improvement programs.
  • Experienced with creating test plans, inspection procedures, and quality reports for X-ray, Medical or other high-tech electro-mechanical equipment preferred.
  • Familiar with precision measurements and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understands electrical design principles, manufacturing standards, and test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications required.
  • Knowledge of product development processes, state-of-the art inspection techniques, factory and field metrics, calibration, procedures, measurement instruments, and equipment is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and motivate/influence others. Self-starter with strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent organization skills as well as excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer or equivalent certifications a plus.
