Description
A non-profit is seeking a Staff Accountant will organize, and perform the general accounting functions of accounts, recording the budgets in QuickBooks, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll by performing the following duties. The Staff Accountant, working in support of and in collaboration with organization management and leadership, performs most of the day-to-day responsibilities of the finance and accounting department.

A non-profit is seeking a Staff Accountant will organize, and perform the general accounting functions of accounts, recording the budgets in QuickBooks, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll by performing the following duties. The Staff Accountant, working in support of and in collaboration with organization management and leadership, performs most of the day-to-day responsibilities of the finance and accounting department.
Responsibilities
- Ensures adherence to all state and federal accounting laws.
- Records all transactions in QuickBooks per GAAP and FASB
- Records journal entries for payroll and for certain allocations, but strives to eliminate the need for large volumes of such manual journaling processes
- Provides accurate reports and detailed information per the direction of management, such as budget vs actuals, etc.
- Heavy participation in the annual audit with third-party auditor.
- Maintains accounting procedures manual and ensure that all procedures are followed.
- Verifies and prepares financial entries according to established procedures.
- Performs general accounting functions; creates and maintains accounting records.
- Prepares deposits, reconciles bank statements and monitors accounts.
- Adheres to master report calendar to ensure that all required reports are available and distributed according to schedule.
- Able to run reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
- Works with department managers on accurate payroll processes and procedures.
- Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred.
- Three to five years’ accounting and GAAP experience
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks
- Non-profit accounting background, or strong cost accounting experience
