Description

McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for a Technical Analyst - Information Security for its Ames office. Candidates would be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including network, servers, and cloud environments. Provide technical expertise and support to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

  • Serves as the primary staff member to research, test and coordinate the application of security patches, configuration changes, and other enhancements to information systems to maintain a current, highly available and secure computing environment.
  • Researches security trends, threats and mitigation strategies and provides reports and recommendations to the Information Security Officer (ISM) and MIS Department managers.
  • Configures and manages the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system to provide an effective alerting, logging and response solution.
  • Works closely with other MIS Department staff members to ensure appropriate and effective security measures are considered when implementing, updating or removing information systems.
  • Investigate security incidents
  • Perform Basic “safe” penetration testing
  • Assists in the implementation of security solutions.
  • Monitors internal control systems to ensure that appropriate information access levels and security clearances are maintained.
  • Serves as an internal information security consultant to the organization.
  • Monitors advancements in information technologies.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related curriculum preferred or Associates degree with equivalent work experience.

Days: Monday - Friday. Occasional nights and weekends

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Experience

  • Three years experience in an information technology field, 2 of which should be in information security.
  • Information security background.
  • Experience with HIPAA, PCI, or SOC 1
  • Some working knowledge of Windows, Linux, scripting, or digital forensics.
  • Health Information Management Systems experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of various health related IT systems.
  • Skills in gathering and reporting information.
  • Logical thinker
  • Skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, external agencies.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak fluent English.
  • Proficient use of standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
