Join our team as a Part-Time Activity Therapist!

The Activity Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for the assigned program. This involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling. Experience and certification in Art Therapy is a plus!

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely documentation of interventions and that interventions are based on the patient's care plan.
  • Apply appropriate crisis intervention techniques as required.
  • Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the Charge Nurse.
  • Provides assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
  • Maintain current documentation in daily progress notes, including the patient's name, date of therapy, name of therapeutic group/intervention, and summary of the session.
  • Act as a patient advocate and ensure patient rights are upheld.
  • Report therapeutic services charges daily, substantiating any changes in the treatment notes.
  • Contribute to treatment plan with specific goals and interventions to be achieved in therapeutic activities.
  • Recognize behaviors and set appropriate limits in clear, concise and non-judgmental terms.
  • Utilize seclusion/restraint procedures applicable to adult body size and history of violent or emotional behaviors.

Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, or Recreational Therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state of Georgia and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification/First Aid and successful completion of CPI before assisting with a restraining procedure and within the orientation period. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Current Lifeguard and First Aid certifications if conducting swimming activities.

Compensation

This is a Full-Time, non-exempt role, and the expected compensation range is $18.00 to $22.00/hour. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be given to experience and skill level. Join us as our Activity Therapist!
