Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Manufacturing Engineering High School Intern to join our team for a summer learning experience. Under general direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering High School Intern is responsible for identifying opportunities for improving manufacturing efficiency, designing tooling and fixtures, and identifying root cause and implementing mistake proofing and read-across solutions. Our internship program is designed to complement your educational and professional goals through meaningful projects and industry experience.

What You'll Do

  • Design tooling and fixturing for increasing efficiency in operations
  • Ensure manufacturability of product designs by working with engineers and prototype technicians
  • Provide recommendations and/or custom solutions for project-specific applications
  • Assist assembly, fabrication, and controls departments as needed in implementing and/or improving manufacturing techniques
  • Perform routing updates
  • Submit purchasing requisitions
  • Create Capital Appropriation Requests
  • Submit Engineering Change Requests
  • Submit Maintenance Requests
  • Identify Total Preventative Maintenance gaps and implement corrective actions
  • Assist in developing and ordering spare parts for key capital equipment
  • Develop standard work and update work instructions
  • Follow a project through the manufacturing process
  • Document what has been learned and accomplished throughout the internship
  • Present this information, along with any thoughts and comments about the internship experience, at the end of the internship term

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong understand of Manufacturing Engineering practices and tools
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Strong work ethic: self-starter, motivated to set and achieve goals in multi-task environment.
  • Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions to problems
  • Ability to manage projects on time and within budget
  • Positive, professional demeanor
  • Knowledge of production/quality standards, and assembly procedures/processes (preferred).

Considerations

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s program in an engineering or manufacturing related discipline.
  • Experienced in manufacturing process improvements and validations
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including presentations to stakeholders
  • Collaboration within a team that resulted in successful projects
