Job Description

Leads and manages Child Development Department child services programs, services, and systems to assure integrated, comprehensive Behavioral Health and Special Needs services to children and families. Monitors special education programs and behavioral health practices. Ensures quality, compliance, and accountability for monitoring systems, practices, and performance. Works alongside the Assistant Director of Child Development of Supervisors to provide strategic leadership for the Child Development Department program staff. Assures high quality, integrated, comprehensive child development services to children and families.

The Assistant Director of Support Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the Child Development Department’s behavioral health and special education, and special needs services. This role ensures the delivery of integrated, high-quality support services for children and families, with a strong emphasis on early childhood mental health, disability services, and inclusive education practices. Working in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Classroom Operations and Director of Child Development this position ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, IDEA, ADA, Colorado Department of Education regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

Pay

Bi-weekly: $3,127.47

  • Paid Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Paid Breaks include 1-week for Spring Break (March), 1-week for Fall Break (November), and 2- weeks for Winter Break (end of December/beginning of January).

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, Special Education, Educational Administration or other closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful management and supervisory experience. Knowledge of early childhood instructional methods and training techniques, including curriculum design principles, learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual development plans, and outcomes assessment.
  • Knowledge of special education for children from birth through age 5.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in human resource management.
  • Knowledgeable about and skilled in the use of computers and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other software programs.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing. (Physical examination and TB test thereafter as required).
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Preferred

  • Graduate degree in Early Childhood Education/Development, Special Education, Educational Administration or other closely related field.
  • Two or more years of successful teaching experience with primary responsibility for a classroom of infants, toddlers and/or preschool.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced working with Head Start, Early Head Start, and public or private pre-school agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and work with community resources.
