General Summary

Assist mortgage loan officers and coordinate the overall mortgage loan process from origination to closing by ordering and processing all mortgage loan documentation needed for the final approval and closing.

Mortgage Processor Job Duties

  • Process applications taken by the loan officers and complete processing for mortgage loans.
  • Assist in ensuring loans are within compliance parameters investor and credit union eligibility.
  • Responsible for communicating with loan officer and member on the status of the file and need for file documentation to obtain loan approval. Monitor loans for any necessary ongoing actions.
  • Analyze and assess all information including credit reports, appraisals, and financial statements for credit decisions.
  • Order and obtain loan information and documentation from third party vendors required for mortgage loan closings.
  • Review appraisal, title, credit application and all associated documents in the file to make sure they match the underwritten loan and guidelines prior to closing.
  • Ensure all underwriting requirements are met for pre-closing, closing, and post-closing.
  • Responsible for government HMDA filing, tracking, and reporting.
  • Provide outstanding service skills for on-going agencies/vendors, member and co-worker contact for new, additional, or outstanding documentation required for pre, post, and closing loan needs.
  • Prepare weekly reports to inform loan officers of their loans progress.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and efficient tracking guidelines for ordering mortgage loan documents to help achieve the required timely closing goals.

Credit Union Job Duties

  • Maintain member confidentiality and working knowledge of credit union policies and procedures.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the core financial system, loan processing system and departmental software.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge to serve as backup in loan servicing and other areas of the department.
  • Maintain outstanding service skills for vendors, members and co-workers for new, additional or outstanding documentation required for all loan needs.
  • Actively support our “sales and service “culture and demonstrate these skills by communicating to members the benefits and features of all our products and services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of competitors’ products and services with a continued interest in improving quality services and products for the credit union.
  • Complete in-house training based on required classes set up for this position.
  • Follow and exemplify credit union core values and service expectations.
  • Assist in any area as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Some mortgage loan processing experience with knowledge of underwriting required, two years of experience preferred
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending regulations tied to Conventional, NIFA, FHA, USDA, VA loans preferred
  • Experience with Encompass software program preferred
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing members in person or by phone
  • Requires a high degree of accuracy with intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.)
  • Requires demonstrated problem solving and proper judgement skills to apply broader aspects of established practice to situations which go beyond clear, concise guidelines.

Work Hours

  • Full-time - Hourly

Wage

  • Wage is commensurate with experience and skills - $23.00 - $26.00+ per hour
  • This position is eligible for a discretionary gain-share plan payment annually

Paid Leave

  • Vacation– 2 weeks/year

  • Holiday Pay – 6 paid holidays/year + 5 additional federal holidays per year. For 1 of the 5, staff are required to attend an all-staff meeting, the remaining 4 may be provided as holiday pay based on LFCU's discretion.
