Job Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for overall leadership and management of the company’s quality organization. The Quality Manager must work effectively with the site operations leaders, purchasing, and quality personnel to define and achieve the quality standards required by the customer. An important responsibility is to lead our threee sites, and the business, to develop sound, fact based, product and customer specific strategies and tactics that result in quality assurance.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains a quality system that meets the requirements of the company’s customer base
  • Manages the quality staff; this staff is responsible for the overall quality system implementation and monitoring of required systems; and activities include proposal review; contract review; quality planning; document control; warranty administration; auditing; corrective actions; customer complaint processing; and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors the quality system implementation within each site and assist the site operations leaders in developing the required staff within that organization to support the agreed requirements.
  • Works with site operations leaders, Director of Supply Chain and site quality personnel to consistently achieve the highest quality standards as required by the customer.
  • KPI – Affect Internal PPM (scrap) reduction, external PPM (customer rejection) reduction and OTD improvements both internally and at our suppliers; report PPM (KPI) data and Action Plans (countermeasures), when targeted objectives are not achieved.
  • Complete appropriate forms, follow up, and ensure all non-conformances are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Set stretch goals for non-conformance resolutions and ensure achievement.
  • Lead all 3 rd party, quality related, audits
  • Oversee the follow up on all warranty claims.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven skill of developing world class quality systems and applying continuous improvement to the quality system.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma with the ability to effectively apply all recognized methods and techniques in a manufacturing environment (Green Belt or higher).
  • Ability to both promote and foster a Continuous Improvement culture both internally and at our supplier’s.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Working knowledge of current company MRP/ERP system.
  • A confident communicator who can influence without direct authority.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years in Quality in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in cosmetically sensitive products
  • DMAC, PDCA, 5 Whys, fishbone etc.
  • Proficient use of quality software such as mini-tab or other statistical based programs
  • Experience leading multi-site teams and programs
