New Horizons of the Treasure Coast

The largest mental health and addiction recovery provider on the Treasure Coast (and beyond), serving 15,000 children and adults annually through inpatient crisis services, a 24-hour helpline and mobile response team, and outpatient programs conveniently located across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. In addition, New Horizons assists 22,000 students in area schools, and we work closely with the courts, law enforcement, jails, and hospitals to help improve the health of individuals and the quality of life in our community.

We are seeking an experienced COOK with the ability to multi-task, follow instructions and work independently.

Cook Duties

  • Reviews the dietitian’s menu to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, salads to be prepared. Prepares, cooks and serves three nutritional meals daily in accordance with menu.
  • Prepares snacks between meals for clients.
  • Assists the Food Service Coordinator in maintaining and ordering items for use in preparing meals.
  • Consistently washes all soiled utensils, dishes, pots and pans from cooking and serving, as well as all soiled dishes and trays from unit meals.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
  • Performs other duties as requested

Requirements

New Horizons will need you to have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in reading and writing.
  • 6 months experience in a facility type setting preferred.
