Rahr Corporation is looking for a Benefits Specialist to join our team in Shakopee Minnesota. In this role you will assist with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs. The ideal candidate will bring both benefits administration expertise and strong HR operations knowledge, with a passion for delivering exceptional service and driving continuous improvement.

- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
- Coordinates and conducts employee information presentations, enrollments, and other related educational sessions regarding benefits programs
- Performs regular audits of benefits data to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assists employees regarding benefit claim issues and plan changes
- Process benefits enrollments, changes and terminations in a timely and accurate manner
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
- Assists with disability paperwork and leave-of-absence requests such as medical, personal, disability and FMLA
- Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
- Ensures benefits programs are compliant with legal requirements
- Responds to retirement plan inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment
- Assists with the open enrollment process
- Manages and processes invoices and resolves administrative problems with carrier representatives
- Collaborates with HR team members to implement continuous improvements to processes related to benefit programs
- Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, and company policies
- Reviews contracts and provides other administrative support for union negotiation process
- Maintains and provides data for audits as required
- Assists with other HR administrative functions and special projects as assigned
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources or another related field. Equivalent experience/certification may be substituted
- 2 years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration role.
- Technical experience with ADP or similar HRIS.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Working knowledge of HR systems and practices related to benefits administration, employment laws, and HR best practices
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience working with Canadian benefits and retirement a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and courteous approach
- High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a dynamic environment
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Willingness to learn and grow professionally through feedback and ongoing development opportunities
- Dependable and adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proven ability to prioritize employee needs by providing prompt responses, soliciting feedback to improve service, and consistently meeting expectations
