Position Summary: This position is located at Warner Robins, Georgia and will serve as a materials laboratory technician for the Air Force Metals Fabrication and Technologies Office (AFMFTO). This includes setting up, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, consumable inventory and procurement, preparing and tracking material samples, and adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand materials testing equipment and testing techniques per ISO and ASTM Standards. Conduct the experiments and collect data as required with general or minimal supervision. Most of the work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or its equivalent plus a minimum of three years of related technical experience, is required. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Organization skills and detail oriented
  • Self-motivated, and able to multi-task
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Problem Solving ability
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • Self-Starter with ability to operate with minimum supervision.
  • Prior laboratory management experience.
  • Experience training junior members of a team.
  • Prior training with 5S and Six-Sigma.
  • Experience with ISO accreditation/audits.
