Position Overview: The Accounting Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations within the organization. This role is responsible for managing and assisting with general ledger reconciliations, financial analysis, reporting, and special projects. The Accounting Analyst will collaborate closely with the Controller, accounting specialists, and other departments to support financial initiatives and maintain compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and IRS regulations.

What You Will Do
General Ledger & Financial Analysis
- Review and reconcile general ledger (GL) accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between GLs and core reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Analyze and document capital expenditures, ensuring proper supporting documentation is maintained
- Review and record prepaid expenses, ensuring correct allocation within GLs
- Maintain and update the month-end checklist to ensure all tasks are completed on time and accurately
- Assist in managing month-end and year-end financial close procedures
- Support accruals, adjustments, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare and review journal entries to ensure compliance with GAAP
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month-end reconciliations according to department expectations
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting, including call reports, bond claims, and board of directors’ reporting
- Analyze and reconcile Federal Reserve and corporate accounts daily
- Conduct thorough reviews of loan and share accounts to identify and resolve variances
- Support internal and external audit processes, including data collection and reporting
- Perform Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) accounting as required
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting and financial guidelines
- Assist in maintaining the Accounting Manual and related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Provide assistance with core and GL system modifications, including testing and implementation of system changes
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for accounting-related projects and initiatives
- Work closely with the Controller and other accounting team members to support strategic financial objectives
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, including finance, operations, and compliance departments
- Assist accounting specialists with training and troubleshooting accounting-related issues
Our Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in general accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis
- Experience in financial institutions or corporate accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced knowledge of accounting transactions, including debits, credits, and journal entries related to wires, ACH, and inclearings
- Familiarity with corporate account systems and reconciliation processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- Experience with financial and accounting software systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and discretion
