As a Quality Specialist at Journey Group, your mission will be to champion excellence in construction projects by ensuring they adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance. Collaborating with field leaders, you'll implement and maintain project-specific QA/QC plans, conduct rigorous inspections, and track noncompliance issues diligently. Your role involves developing comprehensive quality management strategies, partnering with project teams to interpret contract documents, and leading quality control activities during key phases of the project lifecycle.
You will track deficiencies, facilitate the resolution of non-compliant materials, and maintain meticulous documentation to ensure project success. Additionally, you'll monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), participate in submittal reviews, and support safety initiatives to guarantee that all projects meet established safety procedures and goals. What Would You Do as a Construction Quality Specialist?
- Be the Quality Champion for construction projects; responsible for quality management, material management, documentation, and close-out to ensure successful project execution.
- Assist operations staff and the Quality Manager in the development of the project quality plan.
- Partner with the project team to understand contract documents.
- Assist in the implementation of project-specific QA/QC plans in coordination with the project safety plan.
- Lead quality control activities during pre-installation, initial inspections, and periodic inspections during the course of projects. Analyze and report results.
- Track and maintain project deficiency log.
- Collaborate with project leadership team to remove and replace all non-compliant materials and/or workmanship. Document compliance after corrective work is completed, prior to starting any subsequent work.
- Attend quality control meetings.
- Establishes, monitors, and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in submittal reviews as required.
- Support site safety to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements, and goals.
- Track data and "Lessons-Learned" related to quality management issues and coordinate opportunities to share with the overall operational team in a collaborative manner.
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field of study, at least 2 years of construction management or related manufacturing quality control experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties and responsibilities.
- Must have strong attention to detail and analytical skills to draw logical conclusions from data.
- Willing to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, establish credibility and influence decisions.
- Able to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material data.
- Manage change, embrace new ideas, be a team player, and disagree constructively.

- Possess a valid driver's license, safe driving record, and evidence of insurability is required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older to safely work in a construction environment
- Work performed either in the field on job sites (25%) with some office time (75%).
- Some work takes place in an indoor office setting equipped with a computer, desk, phone, and other typical office equipment.
- Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently.
- Must be able to consistently move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces.
- Some work takes place in outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally depending on the task.
- Must be able to transfer materials ranging from the ground to overhead occasionally.
- Must be able to move material up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to safely use hand and power tools or other safety equipment on occasion.
- Travel to other locations is required (mostly day trips/ overnight trips).
